Washington, DC – March 7, 2013 – The Hot Mommas® Project has awarded Tinu Abayomi-Paul a Women’s Leadership Fellowship, a position designed to create exponential benefit to women and girls. The announcement comes in concert with International Women’s Day, 2014.

Building a World Where a Sisterhood of Success Replaces Mean Girls

Research shows that around age 11, girls can begin to experience deficits in what is called “self-efficacy.” In layperson’s terms, this is the feeling of “I can do that.” It doesn’t stop there. As the instructor of a nationally award winning women’s leadership course, I’m called into corporations where I hear about…well…grown up versions of “Mean Girls.” Is there a connection to that 11 year-old?

Miley Cyrus’ VMA 2013 Performance – did you see it? There are two camps:

1. Amazing, because everyone is talking about it.

2. Atrocious, because it was inappropriate.

Business shout-out aside, Miley is now blacklisted for my seven year-old daughter. But does my belief system for my daughter make it inappropriate for her to gyrate or be otherwise outrageous on stage? C’mon, we all know plenty of stars act nutty everyday.
