Washington, DC-MD-VA-WV (1888PressRelease) March 24, 2010 – In concert with Women’s History Month, the Hot Mommas Project today announces the winners of its 2010 case study competition. Dynamic women from around the world shared their stories to serve as virtual mentors and role models to other women and girls. Later next month, these dynamic women descend upon Washington to be honored because of their association with the project, a women’s leadership venture intertwined with social media, housed at the George Washington University School of Business.

The Hot Mommas® Project makes the stories of everyday women teachable, because exposure to role models – even on paper – increases the self confidence of girls and women. The project was founded by a Harvard Business School graduate and case author who believed the case study model of teaching could be expanded to include all women. Today, the Hot Mommas Project is the world’s largest women’s case study library. The cases include personal challenges such as work-life balance and “aha moments” from childhood in addition to traditional business lessons. “Our case studies represent women connecting with women, across oceans, through stories and social media,” said Kathy Korman Frey, founder of the Hot Mommas Project and Entrepreneur in Residence at the George Washington University School of Business, Center for Entrepreneurial Excellence. “Ilona is a refugee from Romania who escaped and made a career as an entrepreneur here in the states. Jennifer is a working mom struggling desperately to balance her life and work. Dana is an entrepreneur capitalizing on her passion. Jen is a multi-million dollar company owner with a knack for finding mentors.” These top winners will be published in a leading Prentice Hall textbook and honored at the Women and Philanthropy Forum held by the George Washington University on April 28.

In addition to 1st and 2nd place winners, the project has special categories including: Financial Literacy, Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM), Undergraduate and Graduate Students, Mentoring, Arts and International. The Hot Mommas Project case studies represent a merging of technology and teachable stories, thus supporting the initiative’s major goal: Providing access to authentic role models anytime, anywhere, at no cost.

The Hot Mommas Project is an independent venture housed at the George Washington University School of Business. It is included in the mission of the GWSB Center for Entrepreneurial Excellence. The project is supported in part by a gift from Linda Rabbitt, a GW alum, and software developer FMS, Inc. The 2010 Financial Literacy category is sponsored by the Charles Schwab Foundation. To sponsor a judging category, learn more about the project, or nominate a dynamic female role model 18 or older for the 2011 competition, email support ( @ ) HotMommasProject dot org or visit www.HotMommasProject.org.
