Module 1 courses: 101, 201, 301 + BONUS:
101: Action & Business Planning – She Who is Most Organized Wins
- Did you know companies that plan are twice as successful as ones that do not plan? There is a fairly recent study which shows this among small businesses, but the study was not very well publicized. Why? Are entrepreneurs not exciting enough? Not enough money to spend? We represent half the workforce in the US, among other critical statistics. It’s confounding. Even if you’re a mom, or a student, who wants to push a goal forward and are not in the workforce: Guess what? Women control 80 to 85 percent of household purchases. It’s time to harness the power we’ve been given. One way is to learn a the planning strategies used by the “big boys and girls” that run into the high six figure consulting engagements. Why do they pay so much for this stuff? Because it works. Remember: She who is most organized wins. This planning technique, when executed by Kathy Korman Frey’s first company – Vision Forward – had a 94% success rate with clients. And that required buy in of multiple divisions. Just imagine the impact it could have for you. Give time, focus, and action back to yourself, your business, your goals….on steroids with this process. You can turn around and apply it in your company, or just keep it to yourself. Apply these techniques to personal or professional goals.
201: Success Factors – Negotiation, Communication & The Ambassadors of Value
- Students at GW might tell you this class will make you $10,000 (or more) right out of the gate. There are subtle – and not-so-subtle – patterns of negotiation and communication in which we must be aware so that we can do our part to maximize our value. Learn about three key, concrete tools – which you could turn around and teach your 11 year old niece or daughter – that will create more understanding of your value, ways we subtely de-value ourselves, and how we can play a role in educating others NOT to do that from this course forward. You’ll be rich in more ways than one after this session. Be an ambassador for women and girls, and carry an important message forward.
301: Support Structures: The Mentoring Goldmine
- Mentoring – done the right way – leads to higher pay and career development. It’s probably why we’re hearing more and more about it these days. But, there is a wrong way to do it. You’ll gather all your learnings from the modules and strategically engage a process for picking mentors in this session. It’s not hard, but most people don’t do it which gives you a what? An advantage. And we’ll learn why this is so critical in our next BONUS MODULE. There’s no research to show that going it alone works. But, in our society of uber-busy, increasingly educated, wired, and scheduled we convince ourselves isolation is okay. Learn the data – compelling data – behind support structures. It will save your life, make you money, and make you happier. You’ll walk away on the path to feeling supported, and supporting others.
BONUS MODULE: Work-Life Balance – Secrets of Master Balancers
- When the Hot Mommas Project case writing software was first built, we conducted an in-depth survey of hundreds of working women to ensure that the topics that surfaced in the cases were valid topics to women around the nation. To date, we’ve used it as our “secret weapon” and folded the learnings into our highly effective confidence-building curriculum. In this session, we share some of the learnings with you. Some of the findings may surprise you. Some you may find controversial. The class blog will likely be quite lively afterwards. But we will tell you what the Master Balancers told us, and how they “balanced it all.” It’s not what we thought it would be, and – here at the Hot Mommas Project – our views on balance changed a great deal based on this research. This session is not open to the press.
Come see why Professor Frey’s class is the recipient of a National Excellence in Entrepreneurship Education Award, the Hot Mommas Project is the recipient of a National Case Award from Coleman Foundation.
