This morning I spoke with one of our Hot Mommas Project judges. She just got a massive promotion. “You’ve got an entire empire now!” I said. We agreed to make a time to have coffee or take a walk.
Thoughts running through my head as I hung up:
I want to support her empire.
She is just incredibly awesome and inspiring.
These are the thoughts and actions of the New Women’s “In Crowd.” It’s the power women of today and tomorrow, and those who support them. But, how and where to find these fabulous women? Attending the right events is one of the easiest ways to surround yourself with the right people. If you choose correctly, you’ll find people who are thinking big, and supporting others while doing it. Here are some examples.
Event #1. 9.24.10 in DC: Equity Matters
Held by:Springboard Enterprises at the George Washington University School of Business. Springboard Enterprises has matched women-owned businesses with over $4 billion of capital.
Summary: The Equity Matters Seminar Series introduces women business owners and emerging/aspiring entrepreneurs to the sources and uses of capital to launch and grow businesses. Drawing on the expertise of successful entrepreneurs, lenders, and investors, the program provides attendees with actionable information about the various sources of capital, what lenders and investors look for, and the resources available in the community to assist their businesses as it searches for the most appropriate source of capital. The agenda also includes a mini-workshop on financial projections and a special fast pitch panel session, which yields constructive and informative criticism.

Event # 2. 10.9.10 in DC, #sisU: The New Sisterhood of Success™
Held by: The Hot Mommas® Project in cooperation with George Washington University School of Business Center for Entrepreneurial Excellence. The Hot Mommas Project is the world’s largest collection of teachable, virtual mentors and role models (aka “case studies). Our curriculum and classes increase self-confidence in women aged 18 to 30 by 150 to 200%. In this pilot, we adapt our methodologies to non-student populations.
Summary: In this first-ever pilot, The Hot Mommas® Project shares our research and exercises from the past 10 years with the general public – Specifically, women who are formal and informal leaders and entrepreneurial thinkers. The goal: Produce a significant and measurable increases that positively impact your career.
