Jodie Daniel is 2010 Australia/New Zealand Area Award Winner. She is a very determined woman since she was a teenager.
Hello, here is is Li, blogging from Beijing, China again! Fall is coming! Reading Jodie’s case reminds my good days in Gold Coast, Australia!! It’s one of the most beautiful countries that I have been!
ps. Please pardon me of my grammar errors.
Jodie as a role model
I consider Jodie as a role model because she became independent at an early age. When she was fifteen, she had a huge argument with her mom, and left home, never returned. Since that time, a new chapter of Jodie’s life began. It was a life full of independence and self-confidence. Jodie worked in a variety range of jobs, from factory work, to financial institutions, and to self-employment. From these working experiences, Jodie deeply perceived the hardship of life. These experiences led to her future success.
The entrepreneurial spirit in us all
After leaving home, Jodie learned from life experiences. She once lived with people who were drinking and taking drugs. She realized that if she continued to hang out with these people, she would probably become one of them. So Jodie decided not to “be a sheep”, refusing drinking and drugs. This became her life philosophy, and shaped her life. The greatest opportunity came when she was working for a temporary agency where she was given a two week position at a financial institution. This two week job turned into a year-long position! And that position led Jodie to various finance jobs.
Overcoming challenges
Jodie is forty two years-old now, married, and has two kids. She wants to have a third child. Before, she was working very hard on her own online business, and the results was she sometimes ignored of her family. Jodie understands that having a third baby will involve more time and energy. But how about her business? She worked so hard for her entrepreneurial idea, and it’s hard for her to give up.
My career learning from Jodie
The mixture of hard work, determination, and taking risks lead Jodie on the way to success. On her life road, Jodie never had financial support from her family. But Jodie had the belief that she could achieve whatever she set her heart on. I did not have the experiences of leaving home and never returning, but I study abroad in the US and sometimes feel nostalgia. I am sure Jodie had a similar experiences as I did. But she overcame them all, and became such a successful woman.
Li’s friend’s Cissey comment
I enjoy reading people’s life story. It leads me to a good life!
