Discussion starter by Rachel Roizen:
Ria Sharon’s case study, “Leap and the net will appear!” made a very strong impression on me because of the candor with which Ria writes about her past. She openly describes feeling uncomfortable and lost in a life that many would refer to as the quintessential American dream. When Ria and her husband decided to have children they agreed, like many couples, that Ria would stay at home while her husband continued to work. Instead of staying stagnant in her position as “Chief Household Officer” Ria makes major changes, and at the time the case was written she was divorced and following her dreams as an entrepreneur. She stepped completely out of her comfort zone, with an unclear future and small children to support. Ria knew that it was time to make a change in her life, and even though it was such an inopportune moment she took her future into her own hands. She gained inspiration for launching a new career from her child who has severe food allergies by starting the online company Check My Tag. As Ria continues to navigate her personal and professional life she admits that she faces many obstacles. Like many women, she tries to be a good mother and business executive, facing the ever too common battle of work-life balance. Luckily, Ms. Sharon’s actions in her case study exhibit her tremendous ability to handle anything that comes her way, proving why she is a Hot Momma.
