Case excerpt and summary by Ximena Iacono:

Kelly Kolker
Kelly Kolker

“However, after my senior soccer season ended at the University of Richmond, I felt a huge hole inside. I had been an athlete pretty much since the day I could walk, and now my athletic career had come to an end…my life without having some relationship to sports seemed completely unfathomable. This is when I knew, my life wasn’t going to go exactly as I had intended. My priority now was not just working in an environment where I could speak foreign languages, it was combining my 2 passions, SPORTS and FOREIGN LANGUAGES.”

Kelly Kolker’s story shows how ambition can be one of the upmost drivers of success.  She did not know what she wanted to do, but knew what she was passionate about.  She took a risk at doing exactly this.  It may be starting out and growing slowly but it is surely becoming more and more of a reality for her.  She states that all of the energy she has put into her career and perhaps life’s project is getting recognized, and coming full circle for her.  She is a demonstration that with a lot of ambition and passion, and a little bit of risk, you can make your own career project.
