Please join us on November 12 in Washington, D.C. as Mrs. Edelman discusses her new book with Democracy Now Radio and TV Host Amy Goodman. Mrs. Edelman is:

* The first black woman admitted to the Mississippi Bar;

* The former counsel for the Poor People’s Campaign the Dr. Martin
Luther King, Jr. began organizing before his death;

* The 2000 recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the
nation’s highest civilian award, and the Robert F. Kennedy Lifetime
Achievement Award for her writings, which now include nine books.

The Sea Is So Wide and My Boat Is So Small: Charting a Course for the Next Generation, a call to action for all Americans to address the urgent needs of the country’s youth. The book is a series of letters to a variety of audiences-educators, faith leaders, youth, mothers, elected officials and concerned citizens nationwide that reflect on the social and economic progress as well as the setbacks since Dr. King’s death 40 years ago. Mrs. Edelman challenges each audience to step up and take action at this pivotal moment to ensure a level playing field for the next generation.

This free event is sponsored by Politics and Prose Bookstore and will be held at the Sixth and I Historic Synagogue. A book signing will follow the talk.
