Ever thought of Playboy as a family business? Christie Hefner is mentioned today in Peggy Drexler’s USA Today blog reports on father-daughter success stories.

Drexler also reports on some pretty stunning family business stats: Families own or control 90% of US businesses(source: Citigroup report). AND,a big chunk of these businesses being headed up by women between 2007 and 2009 (source: 2002 Raymond Institute study stating 35% of family-owned businesses executives believed their business would be headed by a woman over the next 5 to 7 years).

Women Are Money, Part 2. Takeaway: Firms with women in charge make more money.– Fortune 500 companies who promote women to top exec positions are 69% more profitable than industry median (source:Harvard Business Review – Pepperdine study)

– Fortune 500 companies with highest percentage of female managers have 35% higher ROI than companies in lowest quartile of study (Source: Catalyst study of 353 of the Fortune 500)
