Hot Mommas Project Marketing & Media Manager (Spring Internship)

This is an opportunity to work on very senior-level tasks in a global social venture, the research side of which is housed at the GW School of Business: The Hot Mommas® Project. This unique opportunity is available because the founder is a part-time GW faculty member familiar with and supportive of GW students (not a student? Keep reading. “Normal people” welcome too).  We are seeking follow-through, resourceful, organized interns to serve as Digital Media Strategy & Marketing Manager. Skills include interest/study/experience in media; strong writer and researcher. You will perform one or all of the following functions depending on interest and skill match:

1. Updating social media accounts including Facebook, Twitter, Linked in and understanding/ mastering the Hot Mommas brand and voice that must be projected in these forums.

2. Blogging – which could include original blogs, or developing a publishing schedule for the blog and coordinating industry experts (including the founder), editing, linking, posting, coordinating graphics, and “playing nice with others” while doing so.

3. Updating the news page – which will include searching for coverage of the project, updating the GW press office about the coverage, updating the site and – depending on skill level, drafting press releases and pitching news media.

Advanced:

4. Media list building and website updates. Which bloggers, reporters, and Twitterati are influential?

5. SEO and analytics reports.- Do you know what these are? If not, it probably won’t be a part of your responsibilities. If you are frothing at the mouth, then it probably will.

6. Other advanced projects as we like you.

CREDIT – PAY – THE MEANING OF LIFE

Advanced interns are welcomed /encouraged to stay on additional semesters and many have stayed on multiple years with the project for stipends / credit or a combination.

For this internship, a MGT 199 or 299 credit is possible within the GW School of Business. Other interns have worked with their advisor for credit outside of the business school. Not in the school system and interested (this happens a lot)? Contact us.

2012 Hot Mommas Project Web Designer (Spring Internship)

This is an opportunity to work on very senior-level tasks in a global social venture housed at the GW School of Business: The Hot Mommas Project – either virtually or in person. This unique opportunity is available because the founder is a part-time GW faculty member familiar with and supportive of GW students (not a student? Keep reading. “Normal people” welcome too). If you’re proud of women who have made a difference in your life, this is your opportunity to pay it forward and make a difference to a project that is changing lives and careers around the world. The Hot Mommas Project is looking for someone with web experience to help with the following functions:

1. Assist with on-going web design and maintenance of the new Hot Mommas Project site (based in WordPress – plug ins, HTML, CSS knowledge). (Old site is PHP based. Can you help with this too – bonus and muchas gracias).

2. Digital classroom – Support the digital classroom scheduled for launch in 2012 – familiarity with video (vimeo, you tube, etc.) and community (Ning, closed WordPress blogs) formats needed. Webinar tools familiarity a huge plus.

Advanced:

3. Got analytics skills? Assist the media Intern in building monthly web analytics reports.

4. Got design skills? Use photoshop to create and edit graphics for the web and marketing materials.

What is The Hot Mommas® Project?

Founded in 2002 by Kathy Korman Frey, Harvard Business School MBA and Entrepreneur in Residence at The George Washington School of Business, The Hot Mommas Project is the world’s largest women’s case study library providing scalable online mentorship for women and girls. Through exposure to online role-models and mentors, the venture’s mission is to increase confidence of women and girls across the globe, in turn increasing their opportunities exponentially. Seminars based off of The Hot Mommas Project case studies, as well as Frey’s research, is proven to increase self-confidence in young women up to 200 percent. Research for The Hot Mommas Project is housed at the George Washington School of Business, Center for Entrepreneurial Excellence.

It’s taken 10 years for us to crack the confidence code at the Hot Mommas Project, and we bring it to women around the world in 2012 through our digital classroom.

Frey teaches the award-winning Women’s Entrepreneurial Leadership in the School of Business, Spring semester at the GW School of Business.
